Gilgit: Karakoram International University (KIU) opened a campus in Diamer, Chilas, stated a news report. The inaugural ceremony for the new campus was held in university’s auditorium and was presided over by the KIU Vice Chancellor Dr Attaullah Shah, and attended by various other members of civil society.
The speakers vowed to promote education in the area, especially for girls. Shah said that those courses would be taught which would help students get employment opportunities in the Diamer-Bhasha Dam and China Pakistan Economic Corridor project. Local ministers were also present at the occasion and highlighted their struggle in establishing this campus.
