Karachi: Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Tuesday announced that the Kidney Hill Park was reopening for the first time since March when the city administration notified its closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic spread, a news source reported. According to the details revealed, the park would remain open from 6 am to 7 pm throughout the week and there would be no entry fee for the visitors.

Located near the Rangoonwala Hall in Dhoraji Colony, the Kidney Hill Park spans across 62 acres and comprises 12 jogging tracks, along with several types of flower and fruit trees. Despite the coronavirus-induced lockdown, the development work continued to further beautify the park for the visitors, the mayor revealed.

The park received its name based on its shape that shared similarity to the human organ kidney. Having removed encroachments from the park last year, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) restored the park as a recreational spot.
