Peshawar: In a meeting with the women delegation of provincial assembly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan said that the provincial government is in the planning process of launching ration cards scheme for the less privileged citizens of the province, according to news sources.

As per the official statement issued, under this scheme, the provincial government will provide ration to the ration card holders at their doorstep every month. The said scheme is in accordance with the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of making Pakistan a welfare state.
Moreover, the CM added while talking to the delegation that it is the duty of the government of a welfare state to be constantly thoughtful of the poor and take steps for their wellbeing. The delegation led by Women Parliamentary Caucus Sumaira Shams called on the chief minister to talk about the provincial government’s initiative for the welfare or the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Recently, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also launched Sehat Cards, and using the same principal framework, the provincial administration will once again take lead by introducing ration card scheme.
The outbreak of the global pandemic has caused a difficult financial situation for the government but the CM has assured that the provincial government will keep on with the public welfare schemes. The government is resolved to offer maximum possible relief to the poor and the next budget will also have proposals for public welfare schemes.
