Karachi: The federal government has allocated PKR 37 billion in the budget 2022-23 for various development projects in Karachi under funding offered by international institution and allied countries, according to news published on June 13.

During the departing financial year (FY) 2021-22, a sum of PKR 16.61 billion was spent on development projects in Karachi with the financial support provided by other countries and international development/financial institutions.
In the new federal budget, the allocation of the funds is as follows:
- PKR 90 million is allocated for the IT Park in Karachi, which is being developed with the help of the Republic of Korea
- PKR 6.46 billion will be provided by World Bank (WB)’s International Development Association Funds for Karachi Neighbourhood Improvement Project
- PKR 1.75 billion will be used to improve the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s performance with the support of WB
- PKR 5 billion will be spent by WB – with the support of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) – for Karachi Mobility Project

- PKR 11.65 billion will be provided by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) project
- PKR 4.92 billion will be provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Karachi Sustainable Bus Rapid Transit project
- PKR 3.62 billion will be provided by France for the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit project
- PKR 2.17 million will be spent by the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank (AIIB) on improving the performance of the Karachi Water Board
- PKR 3.55 billion will be provided by AIIB for the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit project
