The Caretaker Local Government Minister Mubin Jumani has dirceted the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to conduct a comprehensive survey of all illegal buildings in the province, including Karachi. The authority is required to submit its findings within 48 hours.
Notably, the caretaker minister recently imposed a temporary ban on new constructions and the approval of building plans across the province. The ABAD delegation voiced concerns regarding this ban during the meeting. Minister Jumani clarified that the ban is only in effect for a few days. He emphasized that the primary objective behind this ban is to prevent the city from being engulfed in a concrete jungle. He assured the public that the government is actively formulating a policy that will promote legal construction while preventing illegal buildings.
