Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started working to develop Khayaban-e-Firdousi Road as a signal-free corridor to address the traffic problems in the city, news sources reported.

As per the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Khayaban-e-Firdousi Road will be made into a signal-free corridor from Raiwind Road to Shouq Chowk. The 22-year-old Allah-Hoo Chowk is also being remodelled and split into a dual carriageway. The carpeting work on the carriageway is currently underway.

The news source also reported that the previously traffic-choked Jagawar Chowk and Shadiwal Chowk are planned to be demolished. As an alternate, 5 new and wide U-turns will be developed from Shaukat Khanam Flyerover to Shouq Chowk. It was also announced that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has already completed the carpeting work on 2 of the two-way U-turns, and is working to carpet the remaining 3. The project will cost PKR 96.036 million in total and will cover an estimated 4-kilometre long corridor from Allah-hoo Chowk to Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
