Karachi: City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Sunday inaugurated the PKR 136.5 million project to rebuild Kharadar under the Karachi Neighbourhood Improvement Project (KNIP), according to news sources.

This is the fourth scheme launched under the World Bank (WB)-funded KNIP project envisioned to uplift public spaces in targeted neighbourhoods of the city and increase Karachi’s capacity to offer selected administrative services.
During the inaugural ceremony of the Redevelopment of Kharadar at Allah Rakha Park, Administrator Wahab opined that the development of the city is underway and will continue. He said that Kharadar Old City Area will be enhanced at a cost of PKR 136.5 million. Another PKR 16.5 million is being used for the development of Allah Rakha Park and the surrounding area, PKR 8 million is allocated for utility works, PKR 99 million will be spent on surrounding roads and PKR 13 million will be used for electricity.

Mr Wahab also said that People’s Square was also completed under the same project. He revealed that the development work on the food street at Boat Basin and adjoining four parks is also launched. He revealed that Kakri Road is also planned to be converted into a world-class stadium and Gizri football stadium will also be completed soon. He summarized that the provincial government has developed 14000 Road, 8000 Road, 12000 Road and five flyovers in Korangi district.
