Haripur: The Khanpur Dam authorities on Wednesday reclaimed area spanning to 150 kanals from an illegal occupant, according to the news sources.

Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Sub-divisional Officer at Khanpur Dam Mohammad Bashir said the reclaiming of the land was conducted following the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict. He revealed that the land on the left bank of Khanpur reservoir was illegally occupied by an individual since 2007, constructed a farmhouse and refused to vacate despite issuance of repeated notices.

The apex court presided over the case and after listening to the arguments from both the sides, the verdict was given in favour of the Khanpur dam authorities. The dam authorities on Wednesday razed the grey structure of the farmhouse built on the reacquired land.
