Islamabad: Khana interchange is about to be completed and will be finished by the end of December this year, a news source reported. The project has been delayed by half a year, as it was expected to be completed by June.
90% of the construction is complete and according to CDA sources, girders are currently being placed.
Khana Interchange is part of the expansion of Islamabad Expressway, stretching from Zero Point to Koral Interchange. This is the first phase of the project and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has already completed I-8, Sohan and Koral Interchanges in this phase.
The project is being completed with CDA’s own resources. However, CDA does not currently have the funds for further expansion from Koral to GT Road. CDA is looking to obtain further funding from the federal government for further work.
The project to widen the expressway was inaugurated by the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in July 2015.
