Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Friday inaugurated the monsoon plantation drive in Kahuta as part of the government’s flagship ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme’, according to news sources.

The ceremony is part of the ‘Plant for Pakistan Day’, which will be celebrated across the country and all segments of the society are expected to take part in it.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s resolve to revive forest cover and wildlife – and the natural habitat conservation measures taken over last two years – have been acknowledged and appreciated by international forums like the World Economic Forum (WEF), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Habitat, UN Convention to Combat Desertification and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) reported that the Billion Tree Tsunami launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has added 350,000 hectares of trees by natural regeneration and planting saplings.
