Karachi: K Electric (KE) on Thursday continued its operation against encroachments on electrical infrastructure in the city, a news source reported. To this effect, the KE teams removed more than 2,000 kilograms of TV and internet cables, along with hooked connections from the power poles.

The power supply company conducted the operation for removing encroachments on electrical infrastructure in various parts of the city. These included sectors 50/A and 32/A, Ibrahim Hyderi, Ilyas Goth, and Usman Dawood Goth. The teams also removed over 500 illegal and unsafe streetlight switches in areas of Landhi, Hussain Chowrangi, and some parts of Korangi.
In Bismillah Market and Babar Market, the KE teams removed an illegal generator network that was powering unsafe hook connections with the help of law enforcement agencies. Moreover, KE officials removed an underground cable network powering 12 cattle farms. This network was also found to be causing a safety threat to the residents in Khurramabad.

A KE spokesperson highlighted that these encroachments on electrical infrastructure were causing damage and bypassing safety mechanisms. He added that civic authorities and the public should play their collective role in ensuring safety.
