Karachi: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General (DG) Dr Saif-ur-Rehman has announced the authority’s decision to launch an affordable housing scheme on a timely basis in the city, as per a recent news report. The KDA DG shared this information during a media briefing which took place following his visit to the newly-renovated Estate Lounge and the one-window operations facility at the KDA Head Office.

Rehman said that the development authority had launched many affordable housing schemes for the middle and lower middle class residing in the city’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Surjani Town, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and Shah Latif localities.

He further stated that the planned affordable housing projects would feature amenities (already available in all KDA housing projects) such as wide roads, playgrounds, public parks, mosques, educational institutes, and other recreational facilities.
He also mentioned the newly renovated office and one-window facility would be made operational soon. These offices will outcast the outdate mode of operations in terms of property sale and transfer deeds and help ease up the related tasks for public.

Rehman also revealed that the process for digitisation of land record is being carried out at the KDA office on a daily basis. The purpose of land digitisation is to secure the valuable data regarding property ownerships, he added.
