Karachi: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General (DG) Dr Badar Jameel has instructed the KDA Land Directorate staff to ensure collection of Advance Tax on property transactions as per the rules communicated by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), according to a news source.

The KDA DG gave the directives while presiding over a high-level meeting in Civic Centre earlier this week. Addressing the meeting members, Dr Jameel stressed that KDA staff should cooperate with the FBR and implement the rules specified by the taxation agency with regard to the collection of federal taxes on property transactions. The DG also instructed the staff to collect 1% and 2% respectively from filers and non-filers on property transfer and pre-lease of land.

To ensure that the FBR-sanctioned rules are duly followed in the tax collection process, he announced that a new set up would be provided in Land Directorate office. Further, two FBR officials will also be appointed to the KDA office. Additionally, he directed his staff to share a weekly progress report on tax collection.
