Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) on Thursday introduced a digital file management system called the ‘File Movement Management System’ to expedite land-related matters in the city, a news source reported.

Sindh Local Government (LG) Minister Nasir Shah inaugurated the new digital file management system during a ceremony organised at the Civic Centre. Speaking on the occasion, KDA Recovery Director Raza Qaimkhani stated that before the introduction of this system, the process of land file movement the manual process was time consuming.
Officials revealed that under the new system, the file would first go to the Land Department. They added that the IT Department would then store it electronically and it would then enter the central diary in the Recovery Department. It would then reach the Record Room for verification of dues, followed by the issuance of an automated payslip against it.
KDA officials said the file would finally reach the Scrutiny Committee and would have an e-receipt generated with a sticker barcode on it. The applicants would also receive a QR code, which they could use to get information on the status of their file, they added.

Qaimkhani highlighted that the entire process would take only seven working days to issue the file and challan to the applicants. He added that the new system would discourage the broker mafia and facilitate the applicants.
