Karachi: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General (DG) Asif Ikram recently announced that conducting commercial activities on residential properties was a violation of land-use conditions and that the authority would soon prepare a comprehensive strategy against such acts — according to a news source. This initiative will also help the KDA increase its revenue.

According to the details available, the KDA DG made these comments while visiting Landhi and Mehran Town Korangi. During the visit, he was briefed by Chief Engineer Korangi, who informed him that strict action was being taken against the people found using residential land for commercial or industrial purposes.
In turn, DG Ikram instructed the officials concerned to submit a report identifying all residential plots belonging to the KDA that were currently being used by people for commercial or industrial activities. The report has to be submitted within a week.

Reportedly, the land being illegally used for purposes other than the development of residences will be retrieved from people violating these rules.
