Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) on Wednesday (March 30) launched a massive operation against illegal construction and encroachment on KDA land, news sources reported. The operation has been carried out by the Estate and Enforcement wing of KDA.

Reportedly, the operation was initiated under the command of KDA Director General (DG) Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, who also asked pertinent authorities to launch a probe against personnel found to be negligent. The operation began in Korangi Town Sector 44/A and Gulistan-e-Jauhar C/4 Block 11 and resulted in the demolition of 28 unlawful structures. Moreover, four unlawful residences in Gulistan-e-Jauhar were demolished. On the occasion, a heavy contingent of police and KDA officials were present to oversee the operations.

In addition, on the orders of the Supreme Court (SC), the KDA has initiated operations against unlawfully constructed wedding halls and marquees on Korangi Road. The Supreme Court has taken up the matter in order to reconstruct Karachi in accordance with its master plan. The operation is a collaboration between the KDA, the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA).
