Karachi: The authorities concerned have initiated a drive against encroachments in the city’s West district to clear the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) track, a news source reported. A similar drive has already been completed in the East and Central districts.

The Railway authorities have reported that all encroachments along the KCR track in the West district will be cleared within a time period of three days.
The authorities concerned began the operation from Orangi Station in the West district. They removed several illegal structures during the drive. They also carried out an operation at Manghopir Station and its surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, a Chinese firm has offered to extend technical support for the KCR project. Sindh Transport Minister Awais Shah has also revealed that several other companies have contacted them in regards to KCR. He added that the provincial government is committed to improving transport facilities for the city’s public.
