Karachi: Sindh Government will launch the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) after Pakistan Railways hands over the ‘right of way’ (ROW) to them, a news source reported. Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah, while presiding over a meeting, stated that he is committed to the KCR project.

He added that the authorities concerned have already carried out the feasibility study for the project. He stated that the provincial government now needs the approval of the federal government, and the handing over of the ROW from Pakistan Railways.
The CM instructed the transport department to write a letter to the Railways administration requesting the transfer of the ROW. He said that the letter must also ask for the removal of encroachments, so that the provincial government can invite international tenders.

The Supreme Court (SC) recently ordered the removal of encroachments on KCR land once again. Following the SC orders, the administration launched an anti-encroachment drive.
