Karachi: Development work on Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) is to begin on December 25, a news source reported while quoting Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The project has been approved under the framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The chief minister also said that encroachments have been cleared from the KCR route so Pakistan Railways could acquire 360 acres of land for its path. Sindh government had previously provided KCR’s feasibility report to the Chinese transport ministry. For the project, the contract will be awarded in the second week of December, for which tender documents have been prepared.
The foundation stone for KCR will be laid on December 25.
