Islamabad: The authorities concerned on Monday retitled the capital’s prominent ‘Kashmir Highway’ road artery as ‘Srinagar Highway’ in a bid to express solidarity with the residents of Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK) ahead of the Youm-e-Istehsal on Wednesday (August 5), according to news sources.

Reportedly, the direction boards located on the Zero Point, Faizabad, Dhokari Chowk, Golra Chowk and Express Highway are modified to replace the Kashmir Highway as Srinagar Highway – which is to be inaugurated on August 5. Moreover, the development work on the project is almost complete. Previously, in January, four new interchanges – under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) – were added to covert the road into a signal-free passageway.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi described several activities planned for the day in a media briefing and said that a one-minute silence will be observed at 10am on the day, after baring of sirens.
