Islamabad: Funds to acquire land for Kasana Dam – a dedicated water reservoir for the new Islamabad international airport – have been issued, according to a news source. For the construction of this dam, which is to be built in the current fiscal year, 667 acres of land is to be acquired.
The land acquisition collector in Fateh Jang has been paid the cost of land for the water reservoir meant exclusively for the airport facility, which has an estimated water demand of 0.5 million to 1 million gallons per day (MGPD). According to sources, the dam was expected to be partially filled during the current monsoon season.
In the meantime, the option to utilise sub-soil water has also been explored where the concerned authority has completed 11 tube wells, from which a yield of 0.266 MGPD of water is expected.
