Mansehra: The district administration has cleared the Karakoram Highway (KKH) route between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan for traffic, a news source reported. Prior to the opening, travellers had been stranded in the Upper Kohistan region in three locations along the highway.
Goods transportation, however, continues to remain stuck, according to Upper Kohistan District Police Officer Abdul Saboor Khan.
After heavy landslides, KKH had suffered from blockages in three locations: Dasu, Shitial, and Zaseen. The rubble has now been removed from these spots. Shitial has been opened to light traffic contingents.
The movement of traffic beyond Dasu has been restricted after 9 PM due to fear of further land sliding incidents.
Meanwhile, MPA Faisal Zeb Khan has urged the district administration to clear the roads in Shangla. The region had recently attracted many tourists following a heavy snowfall session; with the roads being blocked for the same reason.
The roads of Yakhtangay, Martung, and Ajmeer remained closed to traffic throughout the week.
