Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) sealed a part of Imtiaz Supermarket along Rashid Minhas Road because of its violation of the approved building plan, as per a news source. The supermarket was using its basement for commercial activities rather than for parking and had been issued a notice by the SBCA a year ago.
The SBCA said that that supermarket had been running its business on the key road link for over a year and was found in violation of prescribed rules and using government’s land for customers’ parking. The SBCA took action against this after the Supreme Court asking the owner of the supermarket to shift the parking site from the Lyari riverbed to his own property, as a measure of improving water quality and sanitation in Sindh.
To this effect, the notification states that as per Section 7-A of the Sindh Building Control Ordinance 1979-82 the SBCA has sealed parts of the supermarket on account of construction against the approved building plan. The notification further reads that whosoever trespasses without approval would be punished under Section 19 of Sindh Building Control Ordinance 1979.
