Karachi: Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon on Thursday (October 7) announced that South District will be turned into a model district through the upgradation of parks and removal of encroachments, according to media reports.

The commissioner visited different routes of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) in South District including Muslim Gymkhana, park adjacent to the Federation House, Bagh Ibn e Qasim, YMCA Ground, Shaheen Complex, Village Garden Restaurant, Baradari Parking, YMCA Ground, and Jahangir Feroz Shah Culture Institute.

During the visit, he was briefed about the anti-encroachment operation ordered by Supreme Court. Commissioner Memon was informed about the anti-encroachment drive conducted near the KCR route. Moreover, the commissioner directed the relevant authorities to revive sports activities at YMCA Ground and was informed about the anti-encroachment efforts that were conducted at the said ground. It was reported that lights and grills have been installed around it while work on the green belt, jogging track, and repairs of the old building has been completed.
