Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is planning to install solar panel lights in city’s parks, according to a news source. This has come as a welcome move, as it will drastically reduce electricity bill expenses. At present, these are worth millions of rupees.
Briefing media, Karachi City Mayor, Wasim Akhtar, said on Sunday, 28th January 2018, that as a pilot project, solar street lights were first going to be installed on M.M. Alam Road and the Malir Cantonment area.
The mayor further added that about 3,885 solar panels had been planned to be installed so far, along Bagh-e-Ibn-e-Qasim. He proposed that if the plan went as envisioned, then all other parks in the city would also be illuminated through solar powered lights.
