Karachi: Sindh Information & Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) to commence a test drive of Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) today (May 24), according to news published on May 24.

Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon lauded the efforts of SIDCL and National Radio Transmission Company (NRTC) to launch Abdul Sattar Edhi Orange Line BRT and Sindh Peoples Intra-District Bus Service. The minister stated that the government wants the bus service to be launched as quickly as possible.
As per the details, as many as 71 buses for the Peoples Bus Service have reached Karachi port. Earlier this month, 69 buses arrived at the port for the bus service. Minister Memon revealed that the cut-off date for Orange BRT is May 30 while for People Bus Service it is June 1. He further added that strict action will be taken against any contractor who causes any delay.

Moreover, Transport Minister Memon has ordered NRTC to initiate the construction of 14 bus stops on route 1 of Peoples Bus Service on Shahrah-e-Faisal in collaboration with Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He has asked the authority to complete the construction work within 4 days. It was disclosed that the government will cover the fuel expenses for 15 days.
