Chief Secretary Shah stated that the law and order situation in the city has improved but it still lacks proper infrastructure. As per the details, he pointed out that jointly Sindh and federal governments are carrying out six mass transit projects, which will be completed within 8 to 10 years. The secretary informed that projects will be integrated with Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) to minimise the traffic issue. Additionally, the K-IV project – a major water provision project – will be completed to provide a clean drinking water facility for the people.

Moreover, the restructuring plan of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) is also underway. The chief secretary notified that the Thar coal project has resulted in massive infrastructure development in the desert. Another great achievement was the introduction of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, under which, the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas highway was launched. He highlighted that said project’s cost is already recovered and both private investors and the Sindh government were now earning profits from it.
