Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is currently working on the repair and carpeting of roads in various parts of the city, a new source reported. As per the publication, the mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar was made abreast of the ongoing efforts of the government authority in this regard, and he personally inspected the road carpeting work being conducted in Parsi Colony of Soldier Bazar.

Previously, the KMC had been conducting work around the Urdu Bazar and Jama Cloth Market. During his visit to Parsi Colony, the mayor told the media that special attention was being given to the rehabilitation of roads which are part of the expected Rabi-ul-Awwal procession.

On a previous occasion, Akhtar announced that PKR 80 million have been allocated for road repair and carpeting work across the city. He also stated that the major issues related to sewerage in Karachi had been resolved by correcting the underground sewerage system, and by repairing roads in various streets. He added that in his opinion, the metropolitan was in urgent need of special uplift schemes aimed at improving its infrastructure, and the lives of its citizens.
