Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday issued instructions to the Planning and Development (P&D) Department and the revenue boards to conduct a survey in the metropolis to assess the infrastructural damage to houses and crops so that the rehabilitation work can be initiated and compensation for the damages can be paid, according to news sources.

Meanwhile, the CM issued PKR 5 million to the deputy commissioners of Karachi, Mirpur Khas and Hyderabad divisions to drain rainwater and tackle similar issues. He made these decisions while presiding over a meeting to review the post-rainfall situation in all the districts of the province. Also, he stated that after the next rain spell, the repair work on damaged road network would be initiated.

Moreover, the CM further directed the finance secretary to release the funds to deputy commissioners for rainwater disposal. He was appraised that the K-Electric had restored 1,730 feeders out of 1,900 total feeders in the city and that the KE is not restoring power in areas where the rainwater remains stagnant.
