Karachi: Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shiochi met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at CM House on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and investment opportunities in the province.
During the meeting, the Sindh Chief Minister invited Japanese companies to invest in Karachi’s mass transit projects, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving the city’s public transportation system. He highlighted that the Sindh government is actively working on transport infrastructure upgrades to provide better commuting options for residents.

The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of wastewater treatment, urging Japanese companies to participate in environmental protection initiatives. He noted that the Sindh government is already running several development projects under direct investment and public-private partnership models.
Ambassador Akamatsu Shiochi expressed keen interest in investing in Karachi’s transport and wastewater treatment sectors. He stated that Japanese companies are actively exploring investment opportunities in Sindh and assured that cooperation in these areas will be strengthened.

To facilitate investment, it was agreed that the Sindh Investment Department and the Japanese Embassy will maintain continuous coordination to advance joint projects in transport, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
