The construction of the power plant started in November 2013. After getting the approval from Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority, the fuel loading was commenced on December 01, 2020.
Moreover, some hot and cold functional commissioning tests were conducted for checking safety and operation mechanism of the plant. The reactor’s physics tests have already been conducted so the trial operation and power escalation tests can be performed after connecting it to the national grid.
