Karachi: The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to resume business operations in all local government offices, according to a news source citing the KMC’s official notification to this effect.
As per the notification, the government offices that fall under the KMC’s jurisdiction will resume activities related to preparation of the budget 2021-22, and payments of pensions and salaries to their respective staff.

In addition, these offices will resume activities on matters related to kachi abadis, encroachments and estate land. The notice also states that offices of the city’s mayor and deputy commissioner (DC) will also resume work while ensuring that measures are in place to avoid public gatherings.
Earlier, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar announced to defer rent payments for tenants of KMC Market in a bid to extend support amid COVID-19 lockdown. The tenants were asked to pay their rent for April and May in instalments during the next four months.
