Karachi: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday (September 1) stated that all land-controlling agencies in Karachi should be placed under the jurisdiction of an elected mayor as part of the district government, a news source reported.

Speaking at a press conference, Kamal highlighted that there were 18 land-controlling agencies in Karachi. He added that these included cantonment boards, Port Qasim, Railways, DHA, SITE, etc. He said that all the municipal services should be de-notified as per the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC), and placed under the control of the city district government headed by an elected mayor.

PSP President Anis Kaimkhani also took the opportunity to express his opinion that the Karachi Master Plan Department should have its status of an independent and autonomous body restored. He further urged the federal government to ensure the transparent transfer of money to the grassroots level in Sindh, as it was public money.
