Islamabad: The Karachi-Lahore Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3) road extension will open to traffic on March 30, a news source quote Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed as saying. He shared this information while presiding over a meeting held on March 14.

Addressing the ssession, Saeed said that the Faisalabad Toll Plaza on this section of M-3 will be removed on March 24 for the public’s convenience. The minister termed the Abdul Hakeem section of M-3 a model motorway route, since it comes incorporated with an Intelligent Transport System (ITS). The ITS helps to handle emergencies and prevent accidents.

Furthermore, the Abdul Hakeem Motorway features land marking, LED screens, a weight station system, fibre-optic cables, and electronic toll collection arrangements. It also offers various travelling and civic facilities at its service area junctions.
Saeed said that the ministry completed the M-3 Abdul Hakeem section using its own funds.
