Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Gmamoglu on Thursday decided to declare Karachi and Istanbul as sister cities, according to media reports.

Governor Ismail met Mayor Gmamoglu in Turkey where they discussed several issues of mutual interest including boosting bilateral relations and proper employment of jobless Pakistanis in Istanbul. During the visit, the governor also invited the mayor to visit Karachi.
Moreover, the governor briefed about the 120-kilometre metro that was under construction in the city. A team of Turkish experts were also invited to check the modern transport system in Karachi, which is being developed in the style of the Istanbul Mass Transit System.

Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Gmamoglu specially invited the governor to attend a summit that was being held in Balkan city next month. During the visit, the governor appreciated Turkey for its support to Pakistan in the Kashmir issue at an international level. He congratulated Mayor Gmamoglu on the occasion of Turkish National Day, which will be celebrated on October 29.
