Karachi: Prime Minister Imran Khan took to twitter to announce that Karachi will have the biggest Shaukat Khanum Hospital in the country which will also be the biggest cancer hospital of Pakistan – a news source reported on November 22.

PM expressed pleasure with the pace of work. The construction work for the project had restarted in September 2020 after it was delayed earlier in the year due to coronavirus pandemic. Currently, the work is being done at full pace and it is expected to be completed within three years at a cost of PKR 13 billion.
Chief Medical Officer and Acting Chief Officer of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centres (SKMCH&RC) in Pakistan Dr Muhammad Aasim Yusuf shared the details of the project in a press-briefing organised for the purpose.

He also stated that there are more than 170,000 new cancer cases in Pakistan annually and Shaukat Khanum Hospitals provide financial support to more than 75% of the cancer patients admitted.
