Karachi: The city administration has constituted a committee to devise proposals with respect to the restoration work of the Hyatt Regency building, a news source reported.

Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held on Thursday. Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General Iftikhar Qaimkhani, DC South Syed Salahuddin, Pakistan Railways member Fauzia Basharat, and other officials concerned were also present at the occasion.
Commissioner Shalwani stated that the building held historical as well as architectural significance, and that the Supreme Court had issued orders for its rehabilitation.

He tasked the committee with finalising recommendations pertaining to the future use of the said structure. It will reportedly submit its suggestions within a timeframe of 15 days.
