Karachi: The Karachi City administration on Thursday (May 26) changed the name of a flyover to pay tribute to a renewed Pakistani painter ‘Eqbal Mehdi’, news sources reported. The flyover that connects the central district with the east will be named after the painter.

Reportedly, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the decision to rename the flyover was taken to commemorate the painter’s contribution towards his passion and the creation of a positive image of Pakistan at the international level. He said that the flyover would be reopened to the public after a thorough renovation and rehabilitation.

In another development, Wahab met with a delegation from the World Bank (WB) and assured them of the transparency and swift work on the ongoing development work on the projects. He said that the development of Karachi and its infrastructure will be done for the greater benefit of the people of Pakistan’s largest metropolis. He said that the projects that are currently underway will improve the traffic situation in the city.
