Islamabad: Within the first 72 hours of its launch, the ‘Kamyab Jawan Programme’, the flagship national youth development initiative of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s government, has registered a record number of applications – according to news sources. As per details, the programme has received a total of 190,000 applications since its official launch on Friday; while the initiative’s website has recorded over 1.8 million visits.

This youth development programme aims to offer self-employment opportunities to the unemployed youth of the country. Under this initiative, various loans of up to PKR 100 billion will be issued over a period of five years. Of this amount, PKR 25 billion has been set aside for women entrepreneurs.

The loans will be offered in the following three categories:
- The interest-free loans will range from PKR 10,000 to PKR 100, 000 and will be distributed on a priority basis in 45 underprivileged districts of the country
- Concessionary loans ranging between PKR 100,000 and PKR 500,000 will be offered at low-interest rates
- Loan amounts above PKR 500,000 and up to PKR 5 million will be offered at a discount rate of 13.25%
