Lahore: Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation, Bilal Afzal, said that the government will review the progress of the Kalma Chowk Underpass project every three days to ensure timely completion, news sources reported on January 30.

Minister Bilal said this while visiting the construction site of the project. He said that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Raza Naqvi is very keen on completing the work on the project before the deadline. He also highlighted that the government would provide every facility to the contractors to complete the project ahead of time, as the project is of extreme importance for the public. Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain, later briefed the minister about the development progress of the project. He said that the authority had completed the 100 % pile work and would complete the slabbing of the barrels in the estimated time. As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, heavy machinery has been mobilized to pace up the development progress.

It is important to note that the Kalma Chowk Underpass and flyover project is part of the mega project launched by the government to ease traffic congestion problems in the city. The project is being executed by the Central Business District (CBD) authority. Once completed, the underpass and flyover will provide easy access to the Gulberg Main Boulevard and CBD Downtown.
