Lahore: Kalma Chowk Underpass will be fully opened to traffic on Pakistan Day (March 23), a news source quoted Caretaker Minister for Communications & Works and Excise Punjab Bilal Afzal on March 17.

Reportedly, the minister shared this information after attending a review meeting held to check the progress of work on the under-construction Central Business District (CBD) Punjab Boulevard and Kalma Chowk Underpass. During the meeting, Central Business District Authority (CBDA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin and Chief Engineer Riaz Hussain briefed the minister on the status of development work.
According to details, the excavation work on Ali Zeb Road underpass will be completed by March 19 while work on road carpeting here will start on March 20. Addressing the meeting members, Minister Afzal said that there should be no compromise on the quality of the project and it should meet global safety standards. He also highlighted the fact that no accident has occurred so far on such a big construction project.

He later inspected the construction site and directed the authority to work day and night for the timely completion of the project.
