Lahore: The Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi will lay the foundation stone for remodelling the Kalma Chowk underpass, an advertisement in leading newspapers confirmed.

The underpass remodeling project is part of the Central Business District (CBD) boulevard project designed to resolve the increasing traffic problems in the city. The project will take 10 months to complete and cost PKR 4.2 billion. The project will start from the Kalma Chowk Underpass, separating it from the first underpass access to the Lahore Central Business District. Another underpass will be constructed while turning towards Firdous Market from Centre Point.
Additionally, the following provisions will be made available to commuters and citizens:
- The traffic handling capacity of over 250,000 vehicles per day
- LED street lights
- Two-lane dual carriageway
- underground sewerage and drainage
- At-grade development works on Gulberg Main Boulevard
It is important to mention that CBD is part of the Lahore sustainable development projects, which now include Lahore’s first downtown project.
