Karachi: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Monday (November 29) announced that the revised design of the Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme – also known as K-IV – has been completed and the project is expected to be complete within two years, according to media reports.

WAPDA Chairman Retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain, on his visit to the project site, expressed satisfaction with the pace of the project. He went on to say that the contract for the construction of the project will be awarded soon. He further added that after the contract, the work will start within three to four months.
The K-IV project director accompanied and briefed the WAPDA chairman about the major milestones achieved so far. He stated that the project is being executed according to the timeline. As per the details, the said project will supply 650-million-gallon additional water on a daily basis to Karachi under Prime Minister’s Karachi Package.

Moreover, the WAPDA chairman also visited the project site of a dam being constructed on the Gaj River. During the visit, Chairman Hussain met with Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah to discuss matters related to Nai Gaj, Hub Dam, Sindh Barrage, and K-IV projects.
