Karachi: The Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme, also known as K-IV, is to be completed in phases and work on the first phase is expected to be completed by June 2019, according to a news report.
This statement has come from K-IV Project Director Asad Zamin, who has recently taken over this position. The project has been under construction for over four years. Development work on the project has been facing delays because of the lack of funds issued by the federal government. The federal government is to provide 50% of financing for the project, which hasn’t come as of yet. With the completion of this project, Karachi will get 260 million gallons per day (mgd) in total. Presently, the city receives only 650 mgd, whereas it requires 1,100 mgd.
