Islamabad: The Senate unanimously passed a bill to extend jurisdiction of Supreme Court of Pakistan and that of Peshawar High Court to the tribal areas of Pakistan, according to a news source. The bill was already passed by the National Assembly.
Moved by Law Minister Mahmood Bashir Virk, the Supreme Court and High Court Bill, 2018, also known as Extension of Jurisdiction to makes Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is part of the FATA Reforms Package and reportedly a long-standing demand of the tribal people.
With this bill passed, the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court will now have the same jurisdiction in FATA as it does in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
