Karachi: The Judicial Commission on Water and Sanitation has ordered the cancellation of all approvals granted to housing schemes in Hyderabad, according to a news report. Justice (retd.) Amir Hani Muslim, head of the commission has directed that all new approvals for housing schemes would now require no objection certificates (NOCs) from civic institutions, and that all schemes which have been initiated without these should stop their construction work.
Proceedings for these took place at the Sindh High Court, where various matters related to the construction of road along Nehr-e-Khayyam, cleaning of nullahs in Karachi, water theft and the overall beautification of the city were discussed. The commission also directed that the schemes of nullahs would now be under the supervision of the Sindh Government, and not the Karachi Development Auhority (KDA).
