Islamabad: The Japanese government has announced its decision to release the fifth tranche of funds worth USD 4 million to Pakistan in a bid to support its efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic, according to news sources.
To this effect, the Japanese Embassy in Pakistan stated that prior to the release of this USD 4 million COVID-19 aid Japan had provided a total assistance of over USD 3,410,000 to Pakistan.

These support funds were provided through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the International Federation of Red Cross (IRFC), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Moreover, it was highlighted that this latest grant will help the United Nations Office for Project Services to provide necessary technical assistance, materials and equipment to prevent coronavirus spread. This support grant is expected to amplify Pakistan’s capacity to trace the affected patients and treat them as required in order to delay and reduce local transmission.
