Islamabad: Special Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Foreign Affairs Kentaro Sonoura has expressed the Japanese government’s interest in providing assistance to facilitate Pakistan’s socioeconomic development, according to a news source. He extended this offer during a meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

The two officials discussed bilateral relations and regional development in this meeting. Sonoura emphasised on water resource management, polio eradication, Information Technology, agricultural productivity, and export promotion as important sectors through which socioeconomic development could be expanded.
PM Khan discussed the various measures Pakistan is taking to promote socioeconomic development, and also expressed his desire to work more closely with Japan in various sectors. He also appreciated the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) regarding a skilled workers programme, and stated it to be beneficial for both countries.

Sonoura and Khan both emphasised on how both countries could greatly benefit from amicable bilateral relations.
