Islamabad: Japan Government has pledged additional grants totaling around USD 9.8 million for two projects in Pakistan, as per a source on April 17.

According to the details, the projects include the “Installation of Weather Surveillance Radar in Sukkur City” and “The Extension of Maternal and Child Health Care Facilities in Sindh”. These grants aim to enhance the capabilities of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in weather observation and forecasting, as well as to strengthen medical services at the Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad/Jamshoro, Sindh.

The signing ceremony for the Exchange of Notes and Grant Agreements was attended by officials from both governments. The Maternal and Child Health Care Facility project, initially announced in August 2021, will establish a new center at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Jamshoro, equipped with various departments and facilities catering to obstetrics and pediatrics.
