Islamabad: Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Hayashi Yoshimasa has announced to provide USD 7 million for the rehabilitation of flood affectees in Pakistan, news sources reported on September 6. The funds will be used by the Government of Pakistan for the rehabilitation of flood affectees and ongoing rescue operations in the country.

Via a statement released by the Japanese Embassy, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Wada Mitsuhiro, informed that the Japanese government will continue to help Pakistan during this difficult period and that more relief supplies will be delivered soon.
He also stated that Japan will work closely with United Nations to address emergency requirements like health, food and nutrition, water and sanitation, and shelters in the flood-hit areas of Pakistan. The plastic sheets provided as emergency aid items through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be used in tent cities established around the country for flood victims.

According to government estimates, the flood has already caused USD 10 billion in damage to infrastructure and agricultural in Pakistan.
